Jesse Taconelli // Managing Editor

Pronouns: he/him

Jesse Taconelli is a 23-year old Philadelphian who graduated from Michigan State University with a B.A. in Interpersonal Communications. Although tasked to wear many hats in his time, the highlights of Jesse’s work have a throughline love for music and art. Inspired by the avant-garde of his craft such as Lester Bangs and Nardwuar, Jesse began to seek a thoughtful, in-depth and artist-centric approach to music and interview journalism, as a response to what he’d read and scoured in a post-blog climate.

With beginnings as Impact 89 FM’s Music Director for three years, he began to pick up interviewing artists as an outlet of giving plenty of context to a diverse musical world strewn together through the featured guests. After graduating on his couch in the middle of the pandemic, he found a way to continue his series by turning to childhood favorite music website RateYourMusic -- where he now regularly covers the website’s lauded faces. Jesse also currently runs Dismiss Yourself - a multifaceted Philadelphia-based label - with friend and fellow contemporary Sticki. Arising from his coffin to join UVC in early 2021, he now sinks his fangs into the unexplored while also driving a quality-focused stake through the heart of inarticulate clickbait.

Dillon Edlin // Staff Writer

Pronouns: he/him

Dillon Edlin is a 21-year-old writer and artist located in Brooklyn, New York. He is currently a student at The New School working towards a degree in Culture and Media, with a minor in Contemporary Music. His experience with UVC began in 2020 when he joined the team as a staff writer, and since then he has put out numerous interviews and articles for the UVC platform. His passions lie not only with journalism, but in photography, music, video, and other art forms outside of writing. He has most recently spent his time designing and independently producing his debut photography zine which focuses on the past several years of his life as well as experiments with Artificial Intelligence and the ways that technology and photography can interact to create new mediums.

Dillon’s work for UVC began in early 2020 when he joined the team and began working on a series of interviews with musicians and other kinds of artists. The interview format has been something of an anchor for him as he has gradually expanded the scope of his projects. His greatest interest lies at the intersection between art and internet technologies, as we currently are able to witness the unfolding of new genres of art as well as new means of creating them. All this change happens in practically real-time and it is a goal of Dillon’s to be able to connect with those making the changes that will influence the artistic landscape more and more in the years to come. Being a part of UVC has allowed him to communicate with the kinds of rising artists the platform explicitly aims to explore, as well as present these artists in his own view as well as the artists' own.
