Yuki continues to show us what he’s made of.
The New Zealand musician has moved from producing for some of the most notable artists in the world to creating his own musical domain.
“TRUE BABY” showcases nearly all of Yuki’s greatest talents. The track, produced by Yuki himself, reels the listener in with a catchy acoustic melody.
A startling drum shakes you out of the stupor of the first few seconds of the track, charging the bass and amplifying the steady hi-hats. The song is as bold as the fully-capitalized title, grabbing your attention without hesitation.
Yuki pleads for change in the lyrics, and you can hear it in his voice. The lyrics read like a diary entry fueled by pure boredom, but the song itself is anything but the case.
He scrawls his ever-identifiable voice all over the track with a tired, almost rant-like melodic performance. Yuki holds the listener’s hand as he takes them through these emotions.
The track is unrealistically catchy, and it’s not a fluke. Yuki’s years of production experience are evident on the quality of this track. He’s made an earworm unlike another, completely all by himself.
His impressive musical repertoire is going to be embellished with more and more of his own original songs in the near future, and we couldn’t be more excited to see how he progresses.
It’s safe to say this isn’t the last we’ll see of Yuki, nor is he showing any signs of stopping.
